Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park

OverviewJavelina at the Living Desert
Perched on top of a large hill overlooking Carlsbad, the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park is a fantastic example of a Chihuahuan Desert botanical and zoological Park. The Living Desert is accredited by the Association of Aquariums & Zoos and offers visitors a wonderful sample of desert organisms to view.

The park offers visitors a chance to see numerous animals and desert plants. A pack of Mexican Grey Wolves, a Black Bear, Bald and Golden Eagles, Hawks, Pronghorn Antelope, Deer, Elk, Bison, Rattlesnakes, and numerous cacti are only a few examples of the desert animals and plants housed in Living Desert State Park.
