Carlsbad, NM, October, 2017 – Carl’s Jr. has begun construction work on its first location in Carlsbad. The burger giant chose Carlsbad after a lengthy recruitment effort by the Carlsbad Department of Development (CDOD). They plan to open within the next few months, joining Starbucks as the newest entrants to the growing market.

Carlsbad continues its growth, leading the way for the state of New Mexico. According to recent studies by the Policom Corporation and SmartAsset, Carlsbad and Eddy County sit high in rankings for growth in business investment and new businesses in general. Carlsbad has either been leading in these areas or has been near the top for multiple years.

“We are very excited to bring the taste of California to Carlsbad, NM,” said Catherine McIntyre, Regional Marketing Manager for CKE Restaurants. “Carl’s Jr. is known for having diverse and adventurous Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner menus which includes Hardee’s Made From Scratch Biscuits, 100% Black Angus Beef Burgers and Chicken Sandwiches that contain no-antibiotics ever. Menu favorites include the Western Bacon Cheeseburger, the Guacamole Bacon Thickburger and the Superstar with Cheese. In addition, Carl’s Jr. also offers the $5 All-Star Meal in 4 unique varieties for those value-conscious consumers looking to get filled up with amazing food at a great price.”

Carl’s Jr. has long been sought after by the CDOD. With several other quick-serve restaurants already operating in Carlsbad, adding another option for residents helps to round out the picture. As far as burgers go, Carl’s Jr. will bolster the offerings for local appetites, and offer another choice for visitors to the community as well.

“We always welcome new business to Carlsbad, but many people are especially excited about seeing Carl’s Jr open its doors,” said Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway. “Carlsbad continues to be a fast-growing community, and our residents are excited about these many new opportunities.”

Carl’s Jr. began business in Los Angeles dating back to 1941. There are currently over 1,200 locations across the nation. The Carlsbad location will round out the southeastern part of New Mexico, with existing sites in Roswell, Hobbs, and Alamogordo.

“I want Eddy County to have a variety of industries that promote a healthy and sustainable economy,” said Eddy County Commissioner Susan Crockett. “Business's like Carl's Jr. promote a positive business climate in Eddy County which is vital for workforce development as well as helping to recruit new and diverse business opportunities.”

Carlsbad has seen a boom in several areas of growth over the past five years. Industries like oil and gas, manufacturing, and aviation have seen many new businesses enter the market. Commercially, the retail and restaurant side of the coin have also been growing quickly, with new construction taking place across the city.

Carlsbad’s commercial front has seen tremendous growth over the past five years. Large chain restaurants such as McAlister’s Deli and Buffalo Wild Wings recently opened to great success. Regional restaurants such as El Jimador have also opened recently. The Carlsbad Pavilion, a shopping center with Ross, Maurice’s, Famous Footwear, and Melrose Fashions as tenants, gives local residents and visitors alike more shopping opportunities as well.

“Keeping our market thriving and our residents shopping and eating here helps everyone,” said Jeff Campbell, director of marketing and business development for the CDOD. “It’s much more convenient to stay in Carlsbad to make purchases and dine out, plus those are dollars that help our gross receipts, and the community, grow.”
