Our History — Building Pathways Through the Years

The history of Constructors begins with a young George Shoup Sr. As a boy, he liked working with his hands and believed that pathways moved the world. His curiosity and passion for building turned into a career with the Highway Department as a road superintendent. The nomadic life of building new roads, however, took a toll on his family and so George Sr. decided to make a path of his own. That led him to begin his own concrete irrigation ditch lining company.

George Sr. built and established his own business from scratch. Soon his son George, a Navy engineer and Vietnam War veteran, joined the operation. With his son’s aid, the two expanded the direction of the company and integrated other services like construction and material production services, which included aggregates and asphalt. Around this time the company bid and won high profile jobs like Pierce Street in Carlsbad, New Mexico. It was then that George’s son David stepped into a leadership role and further expanded the scope of the company. In the early 2000’s David took the baton and grew the company, acquiring entities such as Armstrong Construction and Roswell Ready Mix.

About Our Team

The company is currently run by third generation David Shoup, who continues the traditions of his father and grandfather, George Jr and George Sr. At its inception, the company began with 12 employees and now has expanded to over 500. The Constructors team is led with the deeply instilled values of respect, a strong work ethic, and honesty. We recognize and reward excellent performance company-wide, which keeps our team strong and our service’s quality top-notch.
