Gary Millican

Gary Millican grew up going to job sites with his father, Roy E. Millican, Jr., as early as age 4. Gary knew he wanted to be a builder like his dad. That dream came true when he began partnering with his father in 1970 at the age of 20.

 He and his father mostly built apartments in Dallas, but also built single-family homes, office buildings and shopping centers all over Texas and Colorado. Gary was not only a builder but also a developer and manager too. After R.E. retired, Gary continued building on his own and began investing in various real estate.

In 2018 Alexander Millican, Gary’s son, came to Carlsbad to work in the oil and gas industry. When he arrived, it was difficult for him to find any place to lease. His instincts told him this would be a great place to build apartments.

Alexander returned to Dallas and presented his father, Gary, with the plan of building apartments in Carlsbad. So, after much discussion and research they formed a partnership, found investors, and broke ground in February 2020.

With the COVID outbreak and ensuing restrictions the job has gone slower than expected but Gary or Alexander never, never, never, never gave up. The third generation of Millican builders still continues successfully.
