Carlsbad Museum and Art Center gets new name and logo

The Carlsbad Museum and Art Center returned to its roots after a name change approved by Carlsbad City Councilors.
Founded in 1931 as the first municipal museum in New Mexico, the museum was known as the Carlsbad Museum or Carlsbad Municipal Museum. In the 1980s it became the Carlsbad Museum and Art Center, read a memo from City of Carlsbad Municipal Services Director Angie Barrios-Testa.
Councilors approved the name change June 8 after a presentation at the May 25 meeting by Jameson Lucas IV of Open Minds Awake, a brand and design creative agency.
