CDOD Recruits Retail, Restaurants at Texas ICSC
1 Oct 2016
Dallas, TX - October 2016 - The Carlsbad Department of Development (CDOD) recently attended the annual Texas International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Deal Making trade show. This show is one of the larger shows put on by ICSC. Attendees include retailers, restaurants, brokers, developers, and municipalities.
The CDOD has attended this show for nine straight years, dating back to 2008. The show primarily takes place in Dallas, but has also been held in Grapevine and San Antonio. This year there were over 300 exhibitors and over 4,000 attendees. This was one of the larger shows in recent years, with the trend of attendance increasing each time.
"We always have very productive meetings at this particular show," said Jeff Campbell, director of marketing and business development at the CDOD. "Some of the most successful projects we have worked on have evolved from this show."
McAlister's Deli, IHOP, Petsense, and most recently, Ross, Melrose, Maurice's and Famous Footwear are some of the businesses that the CDOD has recruited from meetings at the Texas show.
"We are working on Project Star, a fast food restaurant, and Project Coffee currently. We had very good meetings with representatives from these businesses in Dallas," said Campbell.
In total, CDOD staff met with 15 developers/brokers, 14 restaurants, 10 retailers, 4 economic development support agencies and 2 lighting companies while in Dallas.
Stay tuned for more developments soon.
