“I love my job, I get to help people in the community and I’m able to serve people. It’s my passion,” says Laney. She was born in Carlsbad and returned seven years ago with her husband. Laney has more than 27 years of banking experience.

“We do a lot of volunteer work,” says Laney. “We love giving back to the community whether it’s volunteering or helping them meet their financial needs.”  

Pioneer Bank employees volunteer with the United Way of Eddy County and the Roadrunner Food Bank. They hand out food monthly and support Carlsbad residents in need. They are also involved with Christmas on the Pecos, taking tickets and helping people put life jackets on.

Not only do the employees at Pioneer Bank support individuals through volunteer work, but they also work toward large-scale community growth. Pioneer Bank has been a member of the CDOD for several years. Laney has sat on the board, served on the executive committee, and eventually became the CDOD president for the 2023-2024 service year.

“It was great working with that team,” she says. “The staff that works with the CDOD goes above and beyond to help businesses. If you are a business and a member, they will do anything they can to help you find what you’re looking for.”

Along with the CDOD, Laney speaks highly of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and encourages any business in the area to join both organizations. Becoming a member can help entrepreneurs and business owners access resources and make connections to help them grow.

“I was born and raised here, and Carlsbad used to be a super small town,” says Laney. “It has grown exponentially and we’re going to continue to grow. We have a great mayor with growth in mind who cares about the town. I’m excited for its future.”
