The Carlsbad Department of Development (CDOD) recently attended the first Red River States Deal Making show in Fort Worth. Over 3,600 industry professionals were on hand at this year's event, one of the more successful shows for CDOD in the last decade.

"We have historically had great success at the Texas ICSC show," said Jeff Campbell, Director of Marketing and Business Development for the CDOD. The newly-named Red River States Deal Making show is the rebranded concept for the former International Council of Shopping Center's (ICSC) Deal Making show. "A lot of good deals have had their roots here."

Campbell said that some of the new businesses Carlsbad has gotten in recent years include Lowe's, McAlister's Deli, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Ross, to name a few.

Over 200 companies were exhibiting at the show. The CDOD had its own booth set up to meet with attendees. Shannon Carr, Local Development Director for the CDOD, and Executive Director John Waters manned the booth for the duration of the event. Current CDOD Board President Danny Cross also attended the show and met with several prospects

In total, the CDOD met with nearly 100 potential leads for new business in Carlsbad.

"The future is still looking strong for Carlsbad and Eddy County in terms of retail, restaurants, hospitality, and entertainment," said Campbell. "Our industrial base is continuing to strengthen, and we have a lot of developers looking at our market."
